Today we announced the launch of Tinker.com 1.0 Beta. This next phase of Tinker includes significant new features for media companies, advertisers and consumers, including improved search, showcasing trending topics within single event streams, and the ability to view links/photos/videos. Other key features announced today include:
*Tinker News: A news portal similar to Google News, but powered by social media. Tinker News aggregates social media streams for breaking news items based on how the news is trending on Twitter and other social media platforms. For instance, a top-trending news story could be pulled from Reuters and appear on Tinker News; if a reader wants to see the related tweets they can click to a Tinker event page that lets the reader join that conversation.
*Tinker Conversation Streams: Content publishers can now divide real-time streams by author, photo, video, articles and/or their stated location.
*Tinker Media Apps: Live moderation and filtration tools built into Tinker enable media companies to surface and manage conversation streams that are focused and relevant to their online audience. For example, msnbc.com uses Tinker to show relevant real-time conversations for a number of news events and also as part of its ongoing healthcare coverage at http://www.doseofreality.msnbc.com.
*Tinker Stream Ads: Tinker creates unique opportunities for advertisers and brands through Tinker Stream Ads, available in standard IAB units which are composed of aggregated and filtered real-time social media conversations. Tinker Stream Ads can carry campaign messages anywhere across the Glam.com and Brash.com Publisher Networks, as well as the Tinker Apps Network, with a combined reach of more than 52 million US visitors a month and 111 million uniques worldwide.
